Barbara Methe

Dr. Methé is a Co-Director of the University of Pittsburgh Center for Microbiome and Medicine (CMM) which maintains a mission to perform innovative basic, translational, and clinical research to understand the role of the microbiome in health and disease and to apply this knowledge to develop novel diagnostic and treatment strategies. She has extensive experience in the application of ‘omics technologies to microbial communities, microbial ecology and bioinformatics. She received her PhD from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Environmental Engineering. Prior to recently joining the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Methé was Professor at the J. Craig Venter Institute (JCVI) and was a leader of the NIH supported Human Microbiome Project.
